Job Description 

Praxis is a systems engineering company with a global client base which operates in the Rail, Aerospace, Defence and Nuclear markets.

In Holland Praxis is best known as an Independent Safety Assesor, but also has a strong pedigree in the delivery of Safety-Critical Systems; as Systems Developers and Assessors.

We are now looking for Rail Systems Engineers to deliver Safety and Systems Engineering to our Rail clients in the Netherlands. This position will require understanding of Rail Systems, in particular Signalling and an appreciation of Safety Engineering within the Dutch Rail market.

Job Role
The Rail Systems Engineer will provide Systems Integration and Analysis for Rail projects which could include any of the following:

  • Identification of system requirements.
  • Systems design and evaluation.
  • Systems Integration Strategy and Planning.
  • Contributing of technical and domain knowledge to support our Sales Team.
  • Being an active member of the Praxis systems community, sharing best-practice and contributing to Praxis’ capabilities in this area.
  • Acting as an advocate for Praxis within the national and international rail systems communities, by speaking at conferences, attending standards committees and Working Groups.

Experience / Skills required :

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Graduate (English and Dutch speaker) with around 10 years experience in Dutch rail.
  • Dutch Signalling expertise, perhaps including ERTMS.
  • Integration of new rail and signalling systems.
  • A sound appreciation of the underlying principles of systems engineering in a complex rail environment.
  • An ability to think analytically, rigorously and creatively.
  • Highly customer-focussed and have effective oral and written communications skills to a range of technical and commercial audiences.
Additional Skills and Experience
  • A first class or upper second degree (or equivelant) in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • A further qualification eg MSc, or PhD (or equivelant) would not be unusual for a candidate.
  • Control System experience an advantage.
  • Membership of IRSE or Systems Institutes.
  • The ability and personal drive to work in teams or alone, with clients and Praxis staff, both on and off-site.
