Principal Consultant - Business Systems

Job Description
Praxis is building a team of Principal Consultants (Business Systems), whose role it is to deliver management/technical consultancy at board level, which has a business impact, as well as influencing our clients’ technical directions. Praxis uses this consultancy to establish itself as a valuable corporate partner, gain market insight and identify future business/technical opportunities.

Job Role
The role will entail:
- Developing relationships from initial client meetings.
- Selling Praxis services.
- Establishing an effective consultant-client rapport, delivering results and maintaining contact with the client.

Experience / Skills required :
The following requirements are essential unless otherwise specified:
- Bachelors Degree & Chartered Status (Science, Arts, Management or Engineering) mandatory.
- Masters Degree (as above) desirable.
- Held Senior Engineering management roles or held a Senior Management role in an engineering business or consulted at that level.
- Have had significant commercial/business responsibility (P&L) or experience of delivering major fixed/firm price projects or programmes or have consulted at that level.
- Understand “systems” thinking; either from a technical (e.g. systems engineering), management (e.g. SSM) or IS (e.g. enterprise architecture) perspective.
- Experience and evidence of applying “systems thinking”.
- An excellent record of developing lasting relationships with senior clients (as a Consultant or Account/Relationship Manager) or in building strong corporate partnerships (as a Director/Senior Manager).
- Strong consultancy skills; be able to influence, win over opposition and think on his/her feet in challenging client-facing situations.
- Able to understand clients’ business drivers and external forces and relate these to specific consultancy objectives.
- Ability to understand and describe what differentiates the Praxis offer.
- Produce justifiable solutions with relevant evidence from management/businesses/technical theory or deep personal experience.
- Must “deal with reality” and develop practical solutions that can be implemented and will achieve the desired outcomes, not “shelfware” or meaningless models.
- Have a charismatic nature which supports building lasting client relationships and be sensitive to client need.
