Rail Project Manager
– UK Wide |

Job Description
Praxis has a number of exciting rail projects and we are looking for a Project Manager with experience in Professional Services to provide railway infrastructure competence into independent safety assessment, Notified Body assignments and railway systems consultancy.

Job Role
The role will entail:
- Supporting bid teams in scoping potential work.
- Setting up new projects, including all aspects of inception, team selection, planning, etc.
- Monitoring and resolving issues on an as-going basis as required.
- Motivating staff and building a strong delivery culture.
- Reviewing other projects as required by the Operations function.
- Providing support to other projects as required.

Experience / Skills required :
- A first class or upper second degree in a relevant engineering discipline – or significant industrial experience.
- A further degree (eg MSc, or PhD) would not be an unusual qualification for a candidate.
- Experience in Professional Services.
- Consistent in-service training demonstrating a professional approach to maintenance of skills.
- At the very least a clearly defined route through to chartered status, and for Principal staff, membership of a relevant professional institution with chartered status.
- Candidates should possess 10+ years experience of the programme and project management of multi-discipline projects within the critical systems arena, probably within a highly regulated market.
- Commercially aware and able to manage projects through the full project lifecycle to meet complex client objectives.
- A track record of delivering to expectations using cost, time, quality and risk management techniques.
- Experienced in client liaison / management, project requirements / scope definition and management of third parties.
- Have the ability to manage stakeholders with an interest in the project.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills – confident and able to present to a wide range of management levels.
- Flexible and adaptable, capable of working in a variety of client cultures and organisational structures.
- An ability to think analytically, rigorously and creatively.
- An understanding of the technical and commercial issues associated with delivery of complex systems.
- An ability to carry out detailed justified work to commercial and technical requirements, and to be able to constructively criticise and assess others’ work.
- Knowledge of industry-standard tools and techniques, and a critical appreciation of their strengths and weaknesses.
- The ability and personal drive to work in teams or alone, with client and Praxis staff, both in Praxis offices and on-site in the UK and potentially overseas.
- The ability to mentor and develop others.
